Sensei Blake Lirette
An explosive and extremely talented fighter, taught by World and North American Champions
respectively, Master Farid Dordar and Sensei Ingrid Dordar, Blake "The Blade" Lirette is making his mark in
the martial arts world.
After training with International Top Karate until Brown Belt, Lirette joined Master and Sensei Dordar at Champions
Martial Arts Academy in North Vancouver, one of the largest and most qualified schools in North America. Today,
Lirette is a third degree Black Belt martial artist and co-owner at Champions Academy where he teaches more than
six hundred students, including his father, two brothers and two sisters.
Also involved in the movie industry, Lirette has performed stunts in various commercials, movies and television
programs including the popular series "Dark Angel". His latest accomplishment on the big screen was filming a
movie with Eddie Murphy, "I Spy". He has been featured in various Video Games, such as "Knock Out Kings", and
has appeared in numerous television programs. He also conducts private martial arts lessons for actors, students
and elite athletes. "What has helped me succeed is finding and following my passion for martial arts at such an
early age. If you discover what you love to do and stick with it, it's only a matter of time before you succeed,"
says Lirette.
With over 18 years of martial arts experience and an enviable amateur record of nine wins, one loss, and five
knockouts, three via spinning back kick, Blake "The Blade" Lirette in 2001 embarked upon a professional career.
On February 17, 2001, Lirette won his first professional fight with a unanimous decision, skillfully
defeating his opponent after four rounds.
In pursuit of a world championship title, Lirette was relentless in his training; his training regimen
consisted of two workouts and six meals a day, six days a week. By the year 2000 Lirette held Sport Kickboxing
Federation's British Columbian (1998) and Canadian (1999) Middle Weight titles along with International Sport
Kickboxing Association's North American Super Middle Weight (2000) title and the Canadian Middle Weight Muay
Thai (2000) title.
The year 2003 brought an abundance of success for Lirette winning an incredible 2nd Round knock out over Heath
"The Cowboy" Harris at the K1 USA Championship competition at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. Then in November
29, 2003 Lirette realized his dream of becoming World Champion. He was handed a decisive, unanimous decision
by the judges following five difficult rounds with two-time world champion Kwame Stephens of Salt Lake City.
Stephens proved to be a resilient fighter, but there was no question that Lirette controlled every round with
world class boxing strikes, powerhouse round kicks, lightening fast spinning hook kicks and his trademark
"switchblade" spinning back kicks.
In addition to his ambitious goals as a competitor, Lirette's long-term vision is to franchise
the Champoins Martial Arts System worldwide. He continues to train 6 days a week, and still has his sights on returning to
the ring in the future. Be sure to keep your eye on Blake "The Blade" Lirette as he turns up the heat on the
international circuit.
